Has it really been so long since I’ve published on my blog? Well, I’m happy to be back, and happy to be bringing you some of my favorite finds to brighten up the end of January. We are working hard out in San Diego, but spend some time on the erg every day, so the search for new music hasn’t stopped. Track #1 is a favorite of the whole women’s team at the moment, on the stereo, and for general singing around the training center. Tracks by Lane 8 and Slow Magic are actually favorites I was listening to a lot while we were in Amsterdam this summer. The Dirty South/Jai Wolf track is the perfect soundtrack for riding my bike to and from the boathouse on sunny afternoons, and I would be remiss to not mention that FMLYBND make two appearances in this set… as a feature in the former and in their newest single “Letting Go” which will be a win for the synth pop people. For those who have enjoyed Bastille and the 1975 over the past year, you will probably like “Greek Tragedy” by the Wombats. Lastly, I have to champion the perfect mix of dream and drive in this set, the Gryffin Remix of “Daydreamer”. Stay warm this January, I’ll be hunting for more great sounds for February.

Hi Megan – Some awesome music selections, thanks for sharing them. They clearly ramp things up for you as much as the Wagner overtures blasting through my earbuds at the gym this morning did for me. Hey, a couple months back I saw you and some other rowers running past my door in Rocky Hill (probably coming up from the D&R Canal towpath). I’ve also met some of your coaches and colleagues in line at our local post office. The national team is always welcome in our little village if Princeton gets too frantic for you! LOL Meanwhile, have a successful winter training season in California. — Richard
