This summer there was no shortage of sweet, upbeat tunes to take me through World Cup III in Lucerne, keep me up through seat racing, and then serve as a soundtrack for the many bus rides through the Korean countryside as we commuted to and from the race course in Chungju for the World Championships. Summer is the highlight of our season, and the songs I’m turned on to during the summer months often link themselves permanently to memories that I will associate with big events for years to come. For this year’s Summer Jams, get started with some 80s-inspired synth-heavy jams from FMLYBND, try to replicate Mikky Ekko’s addictive falsetto vocal tricks in “Kids” (good luck), enjoy the Eagles-meets-the Pretenders with “the Wire” – a finger-snapping track from HAIM, and finish up with Avicii’s newest which will probably be coming soon to a radio near you. Rock on.

Some times the key to a great workout is great music. What pumps you up?
