This weekend, the USTC Women participated in the Princeton Family YMCA’s Strong Kids Triathlon for the third straight year. A group of nineteen US athletes volunteered their Sunday morning to help time, cheer, photograph and direct the mini-triathletes as they raced their way to glory. As always, this was a wonderful event, and it meant so much to me to have my teammates show up and support the Y’s kids. Rowers brought their parents, spouses and children to participate in volunteer activities–what a great network we have!
The Strong Kids Tri encourages children and their families to engage in philanthropy and work toward a goal in order to learn the benefits of actively giving back to their community. Athletes collected pledges for their race from family, friends and community members in order to raise money for the Y’s Strong Kids Campaign–our Financial Aid fund that we use to provide assistance to children and families who cannot afford Y programming.
I borrowed my boss’ Canon Rebel to take some photos of the event, and I have decided I am definitely buying the new Rebel T3 as soon as possible. Check out the adorable athletes, and my strong, beautiful teammates in action at the Y:
Oh, and by the way, National Selection Regatta I is this week. More on that later…
Long Live the Dream,
