This video comes at an interesting time… I am packing to leave for the World Championships, preparing (frantically, as I knew I would be) to represent my country in international competition.  But watching this video about Washington Rowing takes me back to my first days and weeks in the sport when I learned so many lessons about myself and what it means to be a part of a team with such a tremendous tradition of excellence.

The Husky philosophy presented by Michael Callahan in this video flows through the men’s and women’s teams (who share everything equally) and becomes a part of the race plan in every boat regardless of whether you’re in the 1V or the 4V; the 2- or the 8+. You are a part of something that is bigger than yourself. This is maybe the best way that Washington rowing can be understood by those who have not lived it.

Also, sweet new marketing tagline: Go Purple. Be Gold
