Just a quick post to make one last call for my Row to London fundraising efforts. The donations I’ve collected so far have been excellent, and I’m currently the leading fundraiser for the women’s team. THANK YOU to all my amazing friends and supporters who have helped out with the campaign so far.

Now, I’m making a focused call to anyone and everyone who reads or has read my blog: can you help me help my Team get to London? If you enjoy my posts or my videos; if you follow me on Twitter; if the content I create has made you laugh, inspired you, pissed you off, or made you feel anything at all–will you consider making a donation and supporting the 2012 US Olympic Team? It’s because of the support of the people in our communities that I’ve been able to represent my country through sport over the past seven years, and also to tell the story through videos, photos and my blog.

I’ve never pretended that I’m going to end up wealthy as an elite rower. I don’t have any endorsements or sponsorships to help make ends meet, and my lifestyle is far from glamorous. I live month to month, and this August when my USOC funding is cut off, I’m going to be back in the US–tired and happy–but also broke and unemployed. No regrets, no complaints. It’s the way it was before I got here, and it’s the way it’s going to be for the generations of women who come after me.
But right now, for this generation, there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for my Team to make sure that they–we–are successful. If I could fund the Row to London campaign myself, I would. But I can’t. So I’m doing what I can: reaching out to my network of readers and rowing and sport enthusiasts who I know are just as passionate about success, dedication and hard work as I am. I’ve seen it reflected in all of the amazing comments and emails that I’ve received from all of you over the years, and I know the support is there. Now, as I head to London with my Team in just under two weeks, I’m asking you to come through for me just one more time. Any donation amount helps. $10 will make a difference in our efforts.

Thank you in advance for your continued support. I can’t tell you how great it has been to meet you, to correspond with you, and to share my story with you to this point. Not long to go now…

Long Live the Dream,

–MK
