Now that we’re approaching the 10-days-to-departure realm, it’s time to start thinking about selecting lineups for the first big trip to Europe of the year!
Around the end of the month, a group from PTC will be heading over to the UK to race Royal Henley, and then from there continue on to Lucerne for World Cup III. It promises to be a fun, exciting trip with LOTS of racing so the seats for that squad are going to be highly coveted. To quote Ke$ha: “This place about to blow.”
We said hello and goodbye to the erg again yesterday for another go at the 2k test. It was a tough one after a good long period of great base training. But after missing a PR on our test in May I was gunning for a better score, and I got it. There was a point where I thought I might miss out again after blasting hot out of the gates in the first 500… my third 500 was a little scary but that damned “projected time” window at the bottom of the CII screen saved me again and pushed me through a wicked last quarter.
Playlist for yesterday:
Last song before Tom said “go”: “Blow” by Ke$ha
First 1000: “S&M” by Rihanna
Second 1000: “Elevation” (Tomb Raider Mix) by U2
First song after the PR: “Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga
On repeat after that: “Good Life” (New Mix) by One Republic
So yesterday was great until about 4:00 when my erg high finally burned off. Yikes. Good thing Ellen, Stesha and Jessi were there to take me out for burgers to celebrate.
Now that that one’s in the books, I’m ready to hit the big boats (and small boats?) for some tough seat racing. Everyone is packing their A game this week. Me too.
Long Live the Dream,
–MK

Hi Megan, I love reading your blog. Wish I found it sooner! Thanks for posting and being a source of inspiration. Congrats on the PR! Hope you have a great trip in Europe!
Ann, thanks for reading! Getting comments and feedback from readers means so much to me–I love hearing from people who read my blog. Leave me a comment to say hello any time, I will keep posting!
Megan, glad to read things are going well for you – hope you have a fun trip to Henley. I may even come up and say hello if I see you there. ‘Prime Mover’ by Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction is always a good one for erg tests (an old one from the 90s.. but very apt)
Hi again Duncan! If you’d like to introduce yourself at Henley, please do–it would be great to meet you. I should be pretty easy to spot with my Tina Turner hair!
