How Can I Support USA Rowing?
I believe that rowing can be one of the premiere amateur athletic programs in the United States. With the incredibly rapid growth of the sport at the collegiate level, and the resulting influx of bigger, faster talent into National Team training programs, there is no reason that our Team should not be the dominant force in international competition over the 2012 quadrennium.
But we can’t do it alone.
Every year, US Rowers depend on the support of the USOC and our primary fundraisers, the National Rowing Foundation, to train, live and compete. Fundraising efforts at USRowing and at the NRF are hugely generous and are an excellent start to provide our National Team with the support it requires to be successful. However, the annual USRowing budget pales in comparison to other dominant international programs. who are spending up to six times as much on their athletes. While no USRowing athlete expects to live a glamorous, exorbitant lifestyle, often the costs of sustaining housing accommodations, an elite endurance diet, basic health care and transportation are greater than can be met by the USOC and NRF alone–requiring athletes to depend on the generosity of friends, family and supporters in order to survive financially.
Please consider a financial gift to one of several non-profit entities that will enable athletes like me to train, live and compete successfully:
-
the National Rowing Foundation
-
The Princeton National Rowing Association
-
The United States Olympic Committee
All financial gifts are tax-deductible, and will help to provide Team USA athletes with the resources we need in order to bring home World Championship and Olympic medals.
